Translator’s Note
It is an honor to work with Ivonne. She takes me into a mystical world of syllables, alphabets, scarabs, longing, leaving, and discovery in a style different from my own work. I enjoy entering into her culture and life to see through her eyes. Some ideas do not translate well into English. This is where I have to try to imagine what she is trying to say in the context of the poem. Sometimes we laugh about this crossroad of language.
